Durham boasts good shops, an imposing cathedral and seasonal river boat trips; and quad biking at Hardwick Hall (12 miles), Diggerworld (16 miles), the Bowes Museum and Killhope Mining Centre offer great days out. Fell walking in stunning scenery, golf and riding are available nearby, whilst Hamsterley Forest’s walking and mountain bike trails are 8 miles, and the Lowbarns Nature Reserve’s visitor centre, bird watching and wildflower meadows are 3 miles. Shop 1 mile. The village pub’s popular restaurant is yards away.

Three bedrooms. Entrance hall. Sitting room with electric 'flame effect' fire. Study with sofa bed (for + 2). Spacious modern kitchen/dining room. First floor: Two double bedrooms, one with ensuite shower room/WC. Twin bedded room. Bathroom/WC with separate shower cubicle.

Reviews
We rented out both Hawthorn and Nriar cottages for the week as we are a large family and it worked brilliantly. We loved the big kitchen and it had everthing we could want. The location is great for sightseeing and walking, you will never be short of things to do. The pub next door is very friendly and the food is excellent. The owner was very friendly and answered any questions we had.

We had a wonderful time in the cottage. The facilities were first class, the owner was incredibly friendly and helpful and we couldn't have asked for a better holiday - thanks!
